Colonel Henry Dolberry Jr. graduated from Temple University with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History in 1997. Shortly after graduation, Colonel Dolberry attended The Basic School (TBS) and then proceeded to Camp Johnson, North Carolina to attend the Personnel Officer’s Course.
Colonel Dolberry joined the 1st Marine Division and served as the Battalion Adjutant for 1st Battalion, 5th Marines and as the Regimental Adjutant for 1st Marine Regiment from 1998 to 2001. Colonel Dolberry deployed to Okinawa in support of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) Special Operations Capable (SOC), participated in Urban Warrior, and the Advanced Warfighting Experiment (AWE) with Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force (SPMAGTF) Experimental (X).
Colonel Dolberry reported to Officer Candidates School (OCS), Quantico, Virginia. From 2001 to 2002, he performed the duties as the General Military Studies Officer and Adjutant of OCS. Colonel Dolberry conducted an interservice transfer to the United States Navy to begin flight training as a Student Naval Aviator during late 2002. He was designated a Naval Aviator and graduated flight training with distinction and honors for superior academic and flight performance in April 2004.
Colonel Dolberry began initial training in the SH-60B and graduated as a Pilot Qualified in Model (PQM) from Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Light 41 in 2004. In 2005, Colonel Dolberry conducted an interservice transfer back to the United States Marine Corps and began initial training in the AH-1W Supercobra. Upon being designated a PQM, he was transferred to Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 367 (HMLA- 367/SCARFACE). Colonel Dolberry conducted several combat deployments in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM and Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. Colonel Dolberry served as Schedule Writer, Ground Training Officer, Assistant Administration Officer, Future Operations Officer, Assistant Maintenance Officer, Maintenance Officer, Detachment Officer-In-Charge, Executive Officer, Air Boss and Planner while part of HMLA-367 and 3d Marine Aircraft Wing (MAW) Forward Deployed (FWD).
Colonel Dolberry departed 3d MAW and joined Expeditionary Warfare School (EWS), Marine Corps University during June of 2012. He served as a Faculty Advisor, Amphibious Operations Division Head, and Chief Instructor of EWS.
Colonel Dolberry reported to Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron (H&HS Futenma/Magic), Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Futenma and assumed command during June of 2015. While serving as the Commanding Officer, H&HS Futenma/MAGIC was awarded the Calendar Year 2016 National Defense Transportation Association’s (NDTA) Military Unit of the Year Award for superior performance in logistics and transportation. Colonel Dolberry flew 600 mishap free hours while serving as a Tactical Air Commander (TAC) and Assistance NATOPS Instructor (ANI) in the UC-35D Citation.
Colonel Dolberry executed orders to Marine Corps War College, Marine Corps University during June 2017 and graduated with a Masters in Strategic Studies during June 2018. After graduating Marine Corps War College, Colonel Dolberry reported to the Office of the Secretary of Defense (Comptroller) to serve as a Military Assistant until June 2020.
Colonel Dolberry’s decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Navy Achievement Medal as well as several unit and deployment awards.
