Lance Cpl. Braxtyn F. Sinclair and Sparky the Fire Safety Dog demonstrate how to use the controls for a lifting air bag April 7 at the fire station on Marine Corps Air Station Futenma during a visit from Girl Scouts. The large air bags are used when a car, or similarly heavy item, needs to be lifted off the ground. The Marines showed visiting Girl Scouts the equipment they use when responding to an emergency, such as the P-19A fire truck, proximity rescue suits they wear, and hydraulic tools that cut metal to assist in rescues. Sinclair is an aircraft rescue and firefighting specialist ARFF, Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, MCAS Futenma, Marine Corps Installations Pacific, and Sparky is the mascot for the National Fire Protection Association.
