Colonel William Pacatte, Commanding Officer of Marine Corps Air Station Futenma, and French Navy Captain Jérôme Chardon flew aboard a French Navy F200 Gardian maritime surveillance aircraft during a mission to document North Korean violations of UN sanctions in the East China Sea. Under the United Nations Command Rear (UNC-R) flag, the French F200 has been forward deployed and operating out of Futenma due to its friendship, unrivaled support, and strategic positioning within the region.
