Lt. Col. Andrew J. Alissandratos

Lieutenant Colonel Andrew Alissandratos graduated from the Virginia Military Institute in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts in History.  In June, he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant.  After completing The Basic School as a distinguished graduate, he underwent flight training, and was designated a Naval Aviator in December of 2005.  He then reported to HMM(T)-164, at MCAS Camp Pendleton, for training as a CH-46E pilot. 

In May of 2006, Lieutenant Colonel Alissandratos reported to HMM-364 "The Purple Foxes" aboard MCAS Camp Pendleton, where he served as a Schedule Writer, Flight Officer, Weapons and Tactics Instructor and Assistant Operations Officer.  He deployed to Al Taquaddam, Iraq from July 2006 – February 2007, February – August 2008 and Al Asad, Iraq from September 2009 – February 2010 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  In addition while with HMM-364 he completed the Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course during the fall of 2008.    

From November 2010 - November 2011, Lieutenant Colonel Alissandratos served as a Forward Air Controller for BLT 2/7 with the 31st MEU and participated in Talisman Sabre and PHIBLEX.  Upon his return, he was selected for transition to the KC-130J and assigned to VMGR-352. He underwent KC-130J transition training aboard MCAS Miramar and joined VMGR-352 “The Raiders” in May of 2012. While assigned to the Raiders he served as the S-2 Officer, Flight Duty Officer, Flight Officer and Assistant Operations Officer. He deployed in support of the 15th MEU to Djibouti, Africa from October 2012 - April 2013 and served as the Detachment Executive Officer. Following this deployment he deployed to Central Command from October 2013 - February 2014 in support of Marine Aircraft Group 50 and served as the Detachment Operations Officer. He again deployed with the Raiders from June 2014 - November 2014 to Kandahar, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and served as the detachment Executive Officer and Harvest Hawk Instructor/ Subject Matter Expert. 

Lieutenant Colonel Alissandratos left the Raiders in July 2014 and was selected to attend the Marine Corps Command and Staff College in Quantico, Virginia.  After completing the course as a Distinguished Graduate and earning his Master’s Degree in Military Studies, he returned to VMGR-352 in June 2016.  

During his second tour with the Raiders he served as the Detachment Officer in Charge of VMGR-352 Detachment A in support of the Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force Central Command Crisis Response supporting Operation Inherent Resolve from October 2016 - August 2017. Following this deployment he served as Marine Aerial Refueler Transport Squadron 352 Executive Officer from August 2017 - July 2018.  

Lieutenant Colonel Alissandratos executed orders to Marine Forces Command, and served as the Aviation Safety Manager from August 2018 until July 2020. Lieutenant Colonel Alissandratos executed orders to Marine Aircraft Group 36 in July 2020 and served as the MAG-36 Executive Officer until June 2023. 

Lieutenant Colonel Alissandratos’ personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with gold star, Air Medal with bronze numeral 19, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with two gold stars, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with one gold star.
