Col Timothy “Ralphie” Hudson is a native of New Albany,
MS. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in June 1994 and served
in PMOS 5952 until his EAS in June 1999. He attended the
University of Southern Mississippi and graduated with a
Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice in December
2002 and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on 13
Dec 2002.
2ndLt Hudson completed flight training with VT-6 and VT-7,
where he was designated a Naval Aviator on 13 Jan 2006. He
completed his qualification as an AV-8B Attack Pilot with
VMAT-203 in April 2007. 1stLt Hudson reported to his first
fleet assignment with VMA-211.
In June 2010, Captain Hudson reported to MCB Quantico to attend Expeditionary Warfare
School. After graduation, he reported to HQMC M&RA, to serve as the Fixed Wing Company
Grade monitor with Manpower Management Officer Affairs (MMOA-2).
In July 2013, Major Hudson reported to VMA-211, where he served as the Operations,
Maintenance, and Executive Officer. During this assignment, he deployed to the CENTCOM
AOR with SPMAGTF 15.1 in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.
In July 2016, Major Hudson reported to HQMC Aviation Branch to serve as the Fixed Wing
Occupational Field Sponsor with Aviation Manpower Support. While there, he was selected to
serve as the Aide-de-Camp for LtGen “Dog” Davis and LtGen “Stick” Rudder.
In June 2018, Major Hudson reported to VMA-542 where he served as the Maintenance Officer;
in April 2019 he reported to VMA-231 where he served as the Maintenance Officer and then
Executive Officer until Dec 2019; LtCol Hudson served as the MAG-14 Executive until
assuming command of VMA-231.
LtCol Hudson commanded VMA-231 “Ace of Spades” from June 2020 to Dec 2021. Post
command, LtCol Hudson served as the AV-8B Requirements Officer at HQMC Aviation until
reporting in July 2022 as the CMC Fellow to the Dept of Homeland Security through June 2023.
He reported to U.S. Forces Korea (USFK) in July 2023 and while there served in the
Commander’s Initiative Group and served as the USFK Current Operations Chief (J33).
Col Hudson has accumulated over 2,000 flight hours and 1,700 hours in the AV-8B. His
Professional Military Education includes Sergeant’s Course, Expeditionary Warfare School,
Command and Staff College, and Joint and Combined Warfare School. His personal decorations
include the Meritorious Service Medal (3), Air Medal, Strike/Flight with Numeral 4, Navy and
Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. He is married to Steffany Hudson,
a native of Bristol, RI, and they have two children, Zachary (18) and Lorelei (16)
