Sergeant Major Walters was born in in St. Catherine, Jamaica. Walters joined the Marine Corps' Delayed entry program 5 February 1998 and went to boot camp 21 June 1998 at MCRD Parris Island, South Carolina; 1st Battalion, Bravo Company. Pvt Walters completed Marine Combat Training in Camp Geiger, North Carolina, and received orders to Pensacola Florida for basic Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) School as a Ground Support Equipment Technician and promoted to Private First Class (PFC) in December 1998. PFC Walters was the honor graduate and was meritoriously promoted to LCpl on 2 April 1999 and transferred NAS North Island to Complete Certification (C) School where he was certified in the MOS of 6072, Diesel Engine Mechanic and Hydraulics Technician
Upon completion of MOS school, LCpl Walters received orders to his first duty station to be attached to Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron, MCAS Iwakuni, Japan in October 1999. While serving with SAR (PEDRO) Walters, got promoted to Corporal April 2000 and completed Corporals' Course. October 2001 Walters was promoted to Sergeant and received orders to 29 Palms, California. While is 29 Palms, Walters worked in his MOS at Common Aviation Support Equipment and as a Company GySgt for the Airfield Company. Sgt Walters also filled the billet of S1 and S3 Chief while assigned to Airfield Company. Sgt Walters' performance earned him his first Navy and Marine Corps Achievement medal for superior performance in the duties assigned outside of his primary MOS.
Sgt Walters received orders to Jacksonville, Florida, to become a C School Instructor in January of 2004. He completed instructor training in February and got certified to teach all the course at the schoolhouse. Walters was promoted to SSgt in February 2005. SSgt Walters executed orders to Marine Aviation Logistic Squadron-26 (MALS) in January 2007 and later Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron-266 (VMM-266) in May of 2007, aboard MCAS New River. He completed Staff Noncommissioned Officers (SNCO) Career Course in February 2008. Walters deployed to OIF/OEF in August 2008 and the 26th MEU as the Division Chief for Tool Room, Support Equipment (SE) an Individual Material Readiness Listing (IMRL) Division. In January of 2011 Walters Detached from the MEU and sent to Afghanistan due to unique skillsets.
Walters was selected and promoted to the rank of Gunnery Sergeant in 2011 and received orders to MALS-29. Walters served as the OPS Chief and later Division Chief for GSE. At the completion of Advanced Course, Walters executed orders to MALS-12 in Iwakuni, Japan in July of 2012 and was assigned as the Production Control Chief for the 900 Division. GySgt Walters was sent on a 12 month TAD to resurrect a failing 900 Division at Marine Wing Liaison Kadena (MWLK), in Okinawa Japan. Upon completion of the TAD period GySgt Walters returned to Iwakuni and executed PCS orders to MCAS Yuma.
GySgt Walters checked in to H&HS in July 2014 to fulfill his duties as Maintenance Chief with Intermediate Maintenance Activity. Shortly after, GySgt Walters was hand selected to serve as Squadron Gunnery Sergeant, which concluded with the selection to 1stSgt. 1stSgt Walters checked into 1st Battalion/ 3rd Marines as Company C's First Sergeant. After a successful workup and deployment to Okinawa Japan as a part of Forward Deployed Force rotation from June to December of 2017, 1stSgt Walters was moved to Headquarters and Service Company in March 2018 to assume the duties of Company First Sergeant. Walters, completed Senior Enlisted Professional Military Education during this time and completed another deployment for Forward Deployed Forces in Okinawa Japan. Following the 2019 UDP with Headquarters and Service Company, Walters transferred to Combat Logistics Regiment 37 and assigned as the company First Sergeant for Service Company. 1stSgt Walters served in Communications Company as the Company First Sergeant and was selected to the rank of Sergeant major. SgtMaj Walters is currently serving as the Squadron Sergeant Major for Headquarters and Headquarters Squadron.
SgtMaj Walters' personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with 2 gold stars, in Lieu of 3rd award, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with two gold stars in lieu of 3rd award, and Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.
